When is the best time to conduct a blood ketone test?
Ketone levels fluctuate throughout the day. The best times to conduct tests are usually early in the morning before eating your breakfast and post-dinner.
What is the optimal ketone level?
It varies from person to person. The optimal range is 0.5 to 3.0 mmol/L for weight loss and better health while higher levels of ketosis from 3.0 to 5.0 mmol/L are great for therapeutic benefits. People with diabetes should stay between 0.5 to 1.0 mmol/L.
Do I need to calibrate the monitor for the test strips?
Programming isn’t required as our monitor instantly reads the codes encrypted on each Care Touch Ketone Test Strip.
When should I use the control solution test?
Control solution tests should be done at least once daily. It will help ensure that all instruments are operating properly.
How do I efficiently draw blood?
Rubbing the puncture site before pricking your finger will increase blood flow and significantly reduce variations between measurements. Press the lancing device’s tip firmly against the lower side of your fingertip, then press the release button to draw blood. You may need to adjust the lancing depth if your first attempt is not successful.
Do I have to fast for a blood ketone test?
It depends on your goal. If you want to determine a baseline level, it’s best to fast for 12 to 14 hours before taking the test. This is usually early in the morning before eating your breakfast.
What is a ketone control solution?
A ketone control solution is an artificial blood sample that contains a set level of ketones. You can check the accuracy and precision of your blood ketone monitor and test strips using this solution by conducting control tests.
What are lancets?
A lancet is a small medical tool used for puncturing the skin in order to get capillary blood samples. These blood samples can be used for blood glucose testing.
What does triple-beveled mean?
A bevel is the angled surface formed on the tube when sharpened to make a needlepoint. Our needle tips are specially designed to cause the least amount of pain while also drawing a small amount of blood by controlling the puncture depth and angle of penetration.
What is the difference between a safety lancet and a normal lancet?
A regular lancet requires a lancing device to prick the skin. The safety lancet is a single-use and quick alternative, that allows for diabetes testing on the go without the need for a lancing device.
Can I use a lancet without a lancing device?
In order to prevent pain and discomfort, lancets should only be used with a lancing device.
Can these lancets work with my “x” lancing device?
These lancets are compatible with most generic lancing devices.
Can I reuse these lancets?
No. We strongly recommend disposing of the lancets after use as they are designed to be single-use for sterility and hygienic purposes. Also, the tip of a new needle is sharp and precisely formed to ensure gentle lancing but the tip can become dull or bent if used more than once.
Can I bring my lancets aboard a plane?
Yes. It’s okay to bring lancets for blood testing on board as long as they’re covered and labeled clearly. TSA recommends that you keep your lancets in its original packaging.
How do I properly dispose of lancets?
To help avoid HIV (AIDS), HBV (Hepatitis), and other infectious diseases due to accidental needle sticks, follow standard infection control precautions as specified by the CDC or local equivalent. What does pressure-activated mean?
In order for the needle to puncture, it will need to be firmly pressed on the testing site. The pressure activation gives it another layer of safety and prevents accidental discharging of the needle.
What are the types of lancets available at Care Touch?
We offer an assortment of lancets such as twist-top lancets, multicolored twist-top lancets, and safety lancets. Each type of lancet has a triple-beveled needle tip.
What is a lancing device?

What does the 10-depth setting do?
It adjusts the depth of the lancet’s penetration to maximize sample collection while minimizing pain and discomfort on the site.
Does it work with regular lancets?
While it can fit any lancets from other brands, it’s recommended to use Care Touch brand lancets for better handling and operation as it’s designed to work well with our own product.
What are the parts of a lancing device?
The lancing device is made up of adjustable caps, cocking control, ejector, lancet holder, depth indicator, and arrows.
Are all lancing devices the same?
Not all lancing devices are the same. However, the general purpose of their use is the same.
How do I set up the Care Touch Lancing Device?
For best results, follow the steps below:
1. Twist and pull off the cap of the lancing device.
2. Insert a lancet and secure it properly.
3. Twist the protective cover of the lancet.
4. Place and twist the cap back.
5. Select the depth of penetration.
6. Put the control back until it clicks. Then your device should be ready for lancing the finger.
Does it come with lancets?
Yes. The Care Touch lancing device is sold with twist top lancets in plain or multicolor.
Is this available with the glucometer?

Does the device come with a user manual?
Yes. Our lancing device comes with a user manual so you could easily navigate through the device components and use it conveniently for your diabetes testing needs.
Can I use the test strips with other meters?
No. You can only use Care Touch test strips with Care Touch Monitors.
How do ketone strips work?
Blood ketone test strips contain a capillary that sucks the blood up into the test strip. It reaches an enzyme electrode where an electrical current is created. The charge passing through the electrode is proportional to the amount of ketone in the blood sample.
Are ketone strips universal?
No. The Care Touch glucose strips are only compatible with the Care Touch monitor.
How to choose the correct ketone test strip?
Test strips are designed to work with a matching meter. In this case, you would need a Care Touch Glucose and Ketone Monitor for the strips to correctly work.
Does a ketone test strip require a control solution? Why?
Control solutions are for testing the accuracy of the strips. They are calibrated to only work with the machine it was designed for, and it is recommended that you test your strips before use to ensure the accuracy of your tests.
Can I reuse a test strip?
No. For safety precautions, use only one glucose test strip when administering a test and dispose of it properly after use.
